Blogging assignment 3

Hi everyone,
Great job on the blogs so far! This gives us a lot of material to work with.

Your blogging assignment for week 3 is to write a short treatment for a video on a topic of your choice related to Angela Davis' speech you saw at UIC, or related to the topics we discussed in class. 'Treatment" is a piece of writing that describes the film - kind of like a summary... Treatments are useful when you want to let other people know about your movie idea, to get them excited about it so they can help you make the film (what we call "pitching your idea"). Choose any topic we discussed, then write two paragraphs and come up with a title for your video. Some of the topics we talked about are: earthquake in Haiti, Haitian revolution, womens' rights, Civil Rights Movement, prison system reform, Black Panther Party, Frederick Douglass etc).

Why are you interested in this topic? Why is it relevant to young people? Why would this story make a great video?... Feel free to do some research online (this often helps if you get stuck - just don't plagiarize anybody's text or ideas). What kind of video is this going to be: a documentary? a news show? a fictional narrative? a PSA (public service announcement)? Who is the director? Who's the camera operator? Who are the actors (if any). Are you planning to interview somebody? Describe briefly the story and the images we are going to see in the video. How does the video begin? How does it end?
